Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the ScanO mobile application (“App”) provided by PLUTON TECHNOLOGIES (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the App. If you are under the age of 18 (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Account Registration

You can use core scanning features of the App as a guest. Certain features — including cloud-based AI/OCR tools and access to your stored account data — require you to create an account (for example, via Google Sign-In). When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it updated. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently.

3. Description of the App

ScanO is a mobile document intelligence application for Android that allows you to:

• Scan documents using your device camera with automatic edge detection.
• Organize scanned files and folders on your device.
• Use PDF tools: Merge, Compress, Protect, Image-to-PDF, PDF-to-Image, and PDF-to-Word.
• Use AI and OCR tools: Extract Text, Layout OCR, Translate, Enhance, and Extract Tables.
• Sign documents electronically using the eSign feature, with signatures stored locally on your device.
• Share, export, and print documents.

4. Free App & Usage Credits

ScanO is currently offered free of charge. There are no paid plans, subscriptions, or in-app purchases, and we do not collect any payment, card, bank, or UPI information from you.

Some AI- and OCR-powered features (such as Layout OCR, Translate, To Word, Enhance, and Extract Tables) are metered using a usage-credit system. Registered accounts are allotted a number of credits, and each eligible operation consumes credits from your allotted, used, and remaining balance. When your available credits are exhausted, the corresponding features may be temporarily unavailable until your credits refresh in accordance with the then-current allocation.

• Credits have no monetary value, cannot be purchased, sold, transferred, or exchanged for cash, and are provided solely to manage fair usage of the service.
• We may change the number of credits allotted, the operations that consume credits, or the refresh schedule at any time, with or without notice, as we continue to develop the App.
• Scanning, on-device processing, and local file management are not limited by credits.

If we introduce paid plans or in-app purchases in the future, we will update these Terms and present the applicable pricing and billing terms to you before any charge is made.

5. Electronic Signature Disclaimer

ScanO provides an electronic signature feature that allows you to place visual signature images on PDF documents. Signatures you create are stored locally on your device. This feature is intended for convenience and informal use.

You are solely responsible for determining whether the use of this feature is appropriate and legally sufficient for your specific purpose. For legally binding signatures, we recommend using a certified electronic signature service.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App to:

• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights.
• Upload, scan, or process documents containing illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, content that facilitates human trafficking, or content that incites violence.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App or its underlying technology.
• Circumvent usage limits or credit quotas through technical means.
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to interact with the App or its APIs.
• Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code through the App.
• Impersonate another person or entity.
• Use the AI/OCR features to process documents for the purpose of training competing machine learning models.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our IP

The App, including its design, code, features, graphics, icons, and branding, is owned by PLUTON TECHNOLOGIES (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.

7.2 Your Content

You retain full ownership of all documents, images, and files you create, scan, or process using the App. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content. By using cloud-based AI/OCR features, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the requested service (e.g., OCR processing), after which your content is deleted from our servers.

8. Disclaimers

Specifically, we do not warrant that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
• OCR or AI results will be accurate or complete. You should always verify extracted text, translations, and converted documents against the original.
• Scanned documents will be of publication or legal quality in all conditions.
• The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions.

9. Limitation of Liability

Because the App is provided free of charge, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from the use of the App shall not exceed fifty US dollars (US$50).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PLUTON TECHNOLOGIES (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED and its affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the App ceases immediately.
• We may delete your account and associated data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) will survive.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through the App or by contacting us. Details of the account deletion process are described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide notice via email or a prominent in-app notification. Your continued use of the App after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

For users in India

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India.

For users in the European Union / United Kingdom

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you benefit from mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights. Disputes may be referred to your local consumer dispute resolution body or the courts of your habitual residence.

For all other users

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, unless your local law requires a different jurisdiction.

14. Open-Source Software

The App may include open-source software components, each licensed under its own terms. Copies of the applicable open-source licenses and attributions are available on request by emailing support@plutontechnology.com. Nothing in these Terms restricts your rights under those open-source licenses.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
